Sokolský běh republiky – Hora Svaté Kateřiny
The Sokolský běh republiky in Hora Svaté Kateřiny will take place on Wednesday 28 October 2026. This is a race event where timing may not be measured by a timing chip, but participants will still receive their final times and be part of the award ceremony. Each participant will receive a starter pack with a bib number and gifts from organizers and partners. A unique medal shaped like the republic awaits finishers.
The race is set in the Krušné Mountains, and due to the October timing, snow is a possibility, offering runners a unique opportunity to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery. The route is traditional mountain terrain with elevation changes, starting with a steep climb into the upper part of the village.
Main Route (Adults)
5.2 km: The route starts in the Caravan Kemp area and follows an asphalt road through the Ecce Hommo forest path towards the upper part of Hora Svaté Kateřiny (steep climb). A refreshment station is located at the end of the climb. From there, the route becomes mostly flat or slightly downhill, offering spectacular views of the Krušné Mountains. It then continues through the center of the village via náměstí Pionýrů before turning onto a dirt road. At the 3 km mark, the course turns back, leading runners to the finish line via an unpaved forest path through a birch alley. Given the season and mountain location, the terrain can often be muddy and slippery, so appropriate footwear is recommended.
Children's Routes
- 1.4 km (Born 2012 - 2015): Older children will run a loop in the forest and on an unpaved path. The route has a slight elevation change. The return path goes through a meadow that may be wet/slightly muddy depending on the weather. Start and finish are at the Caravan Camp.
- 500 m (Born 2016 - 2020): The track is flat/slight elevation. Starts on a paved surface near the restaurant, heading towards a forest path where participants turn around after 250 meters and run back to the finish. Start and finish at the Caravan Camp.
- 250 m (Born 2021 and younger): The track is flat. Starts on a paved surface near the restaurant, heading towards a forest path where participants turn around after 250 meters and run back to the finish. Start and finish at the Caravan Camp.
Accompanying Program
An exhibition, the forest gallery "Ni zisk, ni slávu" featuring paintings of famous Sokol personalities, is held annually in the area. Members of the Divadlo Rozmanitostí/Městské divadlo v Mostě actively support the race, and one of their ensemble members will be the race ambassador again this year.
Facilities for Runners
The proven area offers good facilities, including brick toilets and a restaurant on-site. Refreshment stands will be available, and a bonfire will be lit for warmth in case of bad weather.

Parking is available in a large parking lot near the area (approx. 100 m).
