Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers working a 5-hour shift receive free entry into a future RunningLane Event (1/2 marathon distance and shorter). Two 5-hour shifts or one 8+ hour shift earn free entry into a 50 Miler and down OR two races 1/2 marathon and down. Email [email protected] for details. Excludes the Wild Thangs Trail Series Bundle.
Event Details
The Smoke Rise 5K, 10K & Half Marathon takes place at the beautiful Blevins Gap Land Trust along picturesque Green Mountain. This trail race is designed for both new and experienced trail runners. Average temperatures on race day are a low of 59F and a high of 81F.
All RunningLane Events trail races are "cupless races." Participants must bring their own hand-held bottle, pack, or reusable cup. Reusable cups can be purchased for $5 at checkout.
The guaranteed Smoke Rise t-shirt deadline is April 29th. Shirts may be swapped for correct sizes after the race if available.

Registration & Capacity
This race has a hard cap of 250 runners. All runners receive a t-shirt and finisher medal. A post-race grill out is provided for runners.
Packet Pickup
Friday, May 9th, 2025 at RunningLane (2407 Memorial Pkwy SW, Huntsville, AL 35801) from 12 PM - 5 PM.
Race day packet pickup is available at the race site from 6:45 AM - 7:45 AM.
Shirts & Awards
To guarantee a Smoke Rise T-shirt, register before April 29th. Age groups for 10K and Half Marathon: 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
Weather & Cutoffs
In case of severe weather, the start will be delayed. Cancellation is possible but rare. Average temperatures: Low 59F, High 81F.
- 10K Cutoff: 2hr 30min (24:08 min/mi pace)
- Half Marathon Cutoff: 3hr 40min (16:50 min/mi pace)
No refunds, deferrals, credits, or transfers. Shirts and medals are not mailed.
Lodging
Monte Sano State Park is recommended, a short 10-minute drive to the race site.
