Skunk Hollow Sneaker Chase & Backyard Ultra - July 18, 2026
All of our parking, start/finish, and post-race festivities will be taking place at the Casper Mountain Trails Center (9301 Casper Mountain Rd, Casper, WY 82601).
Choose from the 8ish mile (2 lap) option or the Backyard Ultra (Last runner standing) option. Join us for year 2 of Wyoming's first and only (as of right now) true Backyard Ultra, made famous by the one & only Gary Cantrell (Lazarus Lake).
Online registration closes Thursday, July 16th at 11:59 p.m. Late registration can only be done at packet pickup Friday July 17th. Cash or check only for late registration. No RACE DAY REGISTRATION.

The course has multiple viewing areas within walking distance. Don't forget your cowbell or other noisemaker to cheer your runner on!

8 mile Rules/Information
- 2 - 4.17 mile laps.
- Starts at 8:30AM.
- EVEN numbered year = CLOCKWISE DIRECTION
- ODD numbered year = COUNTER CLOCKWISE DIRECTION
- Trekking poles allowed.
- No non-participants/pacers allowed on the course.
- No personal aid outside of start/finish aid station area.
- All participants receive finisher awards.
- Age group awards for the top 3 Males and Females in the following categories: 39 & Under & 40 & Up.
- Food & Beverages will be provided upon completion of your race.
- BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair) and noisemaker and hang around after to cheer and heckle the backyard runners
Backyard Ultra Rules/Information
- 1 - 4.17 mile lap, that starts precisely every hour on the hour.
- A coin toss will determine the direction of each lap.
- Warnings will be given at 3, 2, and 1 minutes prior to the start with a whistle.
- All participants must be in the start corral at the sound of the bell.
- All participants must start at the sound of the bell (no late starts).
- Participants may not leave the course until each lap is completed, except for restrooms.
- No personal aid outside of start/finish aid station area?.
- No trekking poles allowed.
- No non-participants/pacers allowed.
- Each lap must be completed within an hour to be counted, including the final lap.
- The winner is the last person to complete a lap.
- If no runner can complete one more lap than anyone else, there is no winner.
- No age group awards.
- You're encouraged to set up your crewing area around the start/finish
The loop has measured 4.15-4.20 miles and 450 feet of gain for one lap. Set amidst the beauty and serenity of Casper Mountain, on forested XC ski and single-track trails. With course elevations ranging from 7800-8100 feet, this fun yet challenging course will surely enhance what you thought were limitations.
