Run Fur Rescue
Run fur Rescue is a fundraising event on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Cargo Bar in Assiniboine Park, Winnipeg, benefiting the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter. The shelter is a registered charity that relies solely on public donations and receives no government funding. The event's purpose is to raise money to support the care of animals in the shelter.
The main activity is a walk/run with pets covering 5 km. Registration includes a Run fur Rescue T-shirt, Run fur Rescue bandana, Run fur Rescue collapsible water bowl, Run fur Rescue dog tag, a refreshment at Cargo Bar, and a post-activity snack for the participant and their pet. The program includes check-in/registration, the group walk/run, drinks at Cargo Bar, and closing remarks that feature a silent auction and a 50-50 raffle.
All four-legged participants must have up-to-date vaccinations, including rabies vaccination. Pet owners will be asked to indicate their pet's social comfort level with a colored ribbon: Green means comfortable visiting others, Yellow means the pet needs time to warm up to others, and Red means please give the pet space.
The event supports the shelter's awareness and fundraising efforts to continue providing care for animals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
