Run for Recovery 12K
Run for Recovery is an organized, timed trail race at Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area in Parkland County. The event is described as family friendly and open to runners and walkers.
Distances offered
- 12K Trail Run: 50% technical single-track, 50% rolling Nordic track, about 350 m elevation.
- 6K Trail Run / Walk: 100% Nordic track with rolling hills.
- 3K Trail Run / Walk: flat on double-wide trails, open to all ages.
- 1.2K Kids Fun Run: flat treed loop.
Published fees are $60 USD for the 12K and 6K, $40 USD for the 3K, and free for the 1.2K. A reduced registration option is available when participants commit to fundraising a minimum of $100 USD for Our House Addiction Recovery and/or McDougall House. The 12K, 6K and 3K entries include event branded swag. All finishers receive a medal.
There are aid stations on course and food is available at the start/finish. Outhouses are onsite. Dogs are not permitted on the race course and strollers or baby joggers are not allowed on the 12K. The park remains open to the general public.
Awards are presented through the evening. Race proceeds after expenses are split equally between Our House Addiction Recovery Centre and McDougall House, and 100% of fundraising donations go directly to those partners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Race Cut-off: 8:30PM or 2 Hours after start of 12K
Important Information
- Be prepared for the elements and trail conditions on the day of the event

- No dogs on the race course

Awards
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age category (U15, Open, 55+) in the 12K and 6K distances and in the 3K distance for kids under 12 years old. Awards will also be given to top male and female 12k & 6K finishers overall.
