Reichenauer Insellauf
The Reichenauer Insellauf is an annual running competition held on Reichenau Island in Lake Constance, Germany. Organized by Sportverein Reichenau, this event takes place amidst the UNESCO World Heritage site of the island.
Participants can choose from several distances: the International Half Marathon, a 10 km run, a 3 x 7 km relay, a youth run (1,600 m), and a children's run (900 m). The course is an idyllic island circuit, with one lap for the 10 km race and three shorter laps for the half marathon. Start and finish are at the Baurenhorn sports field on the west end of the island. The route partly follows the shoreline, alternating between field paths and asphalt, passing vineyards, orchards, and historical buildings like the Basilica of St. George in Oberzell.
The event typically takes place in autumn and attracts many runners and spectators, offering a chance to experience the beauty of Reichenau Island and its local culture. It is suitable for both experienced and novice runners.
