Race for Life London - Clapham Common
The event takes place on Saturday 29 May 2027 at Clapham Common, Windmill Drive, SW4 9DE. It is organised by Cancer Research UK and includes chip timing for participants. The course start and finish are on gravel football pitches just off The Avenue behind Mount Pond.
The route is a mixture of grass, tarmac and gravel paths with some woodland sections. The 10k comprises two laps of the 5k route. In poor weather grass and woodland sections may become muddy and slippery. There are inclines and declines near Mount Pond with a maximum gradient of about 8 percent and a narrow section after Long.

Bicycle racks are available at the common and near Clapham South station.

Event details:
Race for Life 10k is a more challenging event, but without any pressure. Take it at your own pace and enjoy the atmosphere, or push yourself a little more. The events are chip-timed, so you can find out if you’ve beaten your personal best! Sign up as a group with friends and family, or go solo and join hundreds of people on the day. However you take part, you’re helping to beat cancer.

Pedestrians: Please enter the common via any of the park entrances and head towards The Avenue (A205) side of the common.
Bus: The nearest bus stop is on Broomwood Road - service G1. Buses also service Clapham Common South Side and Clapham Common North Side.
Train: The nearest train station to the event is Clapham South (0.5 miles). Exit the tube onto The Avenue, cross at the third pedestrian crossing and the event site will be just ahead of you. Other stations surrounding the common are Clapham Common (0.8 miles), Clapham Junction (1.0 miles), Clapham High Street (1.2 miles) and Clapham North (1.3 miles).

The start and finish areas are on gravel, which is flat, can be uneven but firm underfoot. The route includes a mixture of tarmac, grass, gravel, woodland, and is a double lap, with possible congestion at the 3k split point area. In poor weather grass and woodland may become muddy and slippery, which could increase the level of assistance required. There are also inclines/declines just after the 500m to go point/ Mount Pond, with a maximum gradient of 8%, plus narrow section after Long.
