Quest for the Crest 50k/25k/11k
This event, organized by Run Bum Races, is known as one of the hardest trail races in North America. It features significant vertical gain and technical terrain, with sections that may require participants to use ropes or climb on all fours.
Distances and Vertical Gain:
- 50k: 12,000 ft of vertical gain, tackling 3 peaks including Mt. Mitchell.
- 25k: 4,500 ft of vertical gain.
- 11k: 3,300 ft of vertical gain, a hill climb from the bottom of Mt. Mitchell to the summit.
Important Notes:
- All courses are point-to-point.
- This is not a beginner trail race; participants should be well-prepared and experienced in mountain environments.
- Mandatory gear may include water filters for some distances.
- Registration closes on May 16, 2026.
Pricing:
- 50k: $135 (early bird before Sep 1), $145 (after Sep 1)
- 25k: $105 (early bird before Sep 1), $115 (after Sep 1)
Swag and Awards: All runners receive a pint glass and hat/beanie. 50k finishers receive a medal. Free photos and shuttle to the race start are provided.
Refund Policy: No refunds, transfers, or deferments within 90 days of the event. Partial credit may be available beyond 90 days.
