Yorkshire Reservoir Dogs
Yorkshire Reservoir Dogs is a trail running event organised by the Punk Panther team that follows waterside routes around multiple reservoirs near Otley. The route passes seven named reservoirs and includes sections through Stainburn Forest and by Almscliffe Crag. The longer course adds Eccup reservoir.
Distances are offered across three race options:
- 13 miles (half marathon)
- 20 miles
- 32 miles (ultramarathon)
Climb figures are published for each distance: approximately 1400, 1900 and 3500 feet respectively. The event carries ITRA points of 1, 1 and 2 and UTMB qualification labels Q20K, Q20K and Q50K for the three distances. Minimum entry age is 18 and the field is capped at 200 entrants. The event forms part of a race series.
Checkpoints on course provide water, coke, energy bars and crisps. All ultramarathon entrants are supplied with a tracker; trail race entrants may hire a tracker for a fee. A provisional GPX and route description are available and a final version is sent to competitors before the event. Routes are taped but competitors are expected to navigate using the provided map and instructions.
A mandatory kit list applies to all distances and random kit checks may be carried out on course. Finishers receive a medal and an event T shirt. Dogs may run subject to the event rules; dogs are not permitted inside the registration building. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
