Pistoia Abetone – Il sapore della sfida
The Pistoia Abetone Ultramarathon, renowned as one of Europe's most challenging races, invites participants to an unforgettable challenge on June 28, 2026.
This event offers multiple courses designed to test runners of all levels:
- TRAGUARDO ABETONE - 52 KM: The flagship ultramarathon, a truly demanding race with endless climbs that tests the mind, legs, and heart with every step.
- TRAGUARDO SAN MARCELLO - 30 KM: An intermediate challenge perfect for those preparing for a marathon, looking to increase their usual race distance, or seeking a solid test for the Pistoia-Abetone event in the following year.
- FREE-WALKING SAN MARCELLO - ABETONE (22km): A popular and spectacular free-pace walk on the final kilometers, allowing non-competitive participants to reach the finish line and receive the Pistoia-Abetone medal.
- TREKKING DA PORTA FRANCA AD ABETONE IN TRAVERSATA NOTTURNA: Organized by the Cai section of Pistoia, this is an unmissable event for trekking enthusiasts. It involves two days of travel, ten hours of walking, and a unique experience through the suggestive night scenery of the Apennines.
The race has a rich history, with its origins tracing back to Artidoro Berti's attempt at the marathon distance in 1968, inspired by the Olympic Games in Mexico City. This event has since evolved into the iconic Pistoia-Abetone Ultramarathon.
