Peak Raid Race 4 Alstonefield South
Peak Raid Race 4 is a fell running score event in the Peak District at Alstonefield on 6 December 2026. It is the fourth race in a series of four events that each run for three hours; the series includes Hayfield, Edale and Eastern Moors South and the best three results count toward the overall league.
Competitors receive a waterproof map, a control description and a points value sheet. Within the three hour time limit runners select their own route to visit controls and score points. Points are lost for lateness. The event uses electronic timing and allows solo or pairs entries. Pairs are placed in an age category determined by the older competitor. There are 15 categories in total and a parent or guardian rule applies where one runner is under 18; the minimum age for the junior runner is 14.
Terrain varies across the series and on this event includes Peak District hills, moors and dales with areas of high moorland and limestone dales with a network of footpaths. Competitors must carry the FRA mandatory minimum kit which includes waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams and attached hood, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle, emergency food and a survival bag. A series of four 3-hour races. The series uses a variety of terrain; from tough high moorland requiring accurate navigation to more runnable areas in the limestone dales with a good network of footpaths.
- Race 1 Sunday 20st September 2026: Hayfield
- Race 2 Sunday 18th October 2026: Edale
- Race 3 Sunday 15th November 2026: Eastern Moors South
- Race 4 Sunday 6th December 2026: Alstonefield
All events use SiTiming and have a score format so you select your own route and go as hard or as easy as you like! Compete solo, or run as a pair (or walk or jog)! The score event format enables route choice according to ability, terrain and weather conditions. The secret for success is to collect as many points as possible within the time limit of three hours. Each area is different so your strategy may need to change each time. Your best three results count towards the overall league result.
Pairs can enter all categories. Age category is determined by your age on the 31/12/2026 and for pairs, the age category is based upon the age of the oldest runner.
On the day, registration opens from 7:30 am and competitors start in pre-selected five-minute time slots between 8 am and 10 am. Try to arrive at registration at least 30 minutes before your allocated start time.
For all races, competitors MUST wear or carry the FRA Mandatory Minimum Kit of; waterproof whole body cover (jacket and trousers with taped seams and integrated attached hood), hat, gloves, map of the route (provided), compass, whistle and emergency food. In addition you must also carry a survival bag (bag not blanket). All competitors will have their kit checked, please ensure that you have the correct kit with you.
At the start you will be given a waterproof map, with a control description and points value sheet on the back. You then have three hours to select your route and visit as many controls as possible in the time allowed. You will lose points if you are late!
Categories
There are 15 categories in total. Ten solo or pairs and five mixed pairs. Pairs can enter all categories. The category entered is determined by the age of the eldest competitor in the pair. Prizes to be awarded as follows:
- Solos/Pairs: Women Senior, Women Vet 40, Women Vet 50, Women Vet 60, Women Vet 70, Men Senior, Men Vet 40, Men Vet 50, Men Vet 60, Men Vet 70
- Mixed Pairs: Mixed Senior, Mixed Vet 40, Mixed Vet 50, Mixed Vet 60
- Parent or Guardian & Under 18: Where one of the two runners is under 18.
