The Panoramalauf Rund Um Die Burg Are (with the only ultra-landscape run in the district of Ahrweiler) is a DLV-approved popular race organized by Selbstläufer Altenahr e.V., inviting ALL runners from near and far.
The landscape in the middle Ahrtal offers a real alternative to asphalt city runs.
In the morning, there is a joint start over 19 km (K19), 35 km (K35), and 57 km (K57).
When?
Always on the last Saturday in August, the 14th Panoramalauf is on Sat, August 29, 2026.
Meeting Point/Start/Finish
Martinshütte above Altenahr, where catering is also provided.
Start Times
- 9:00 AM – K35 and K57 (Time limit 10.5 h)
- 9:30 AM – K19
The Courses
The K19 (medium difficulty), K35 (difficult), and K57 (very difficult) are very scenic (panorama) running routes with longer uphill and downhill sections, short but tough climbs, but also longer, flat sections. They lead past the scenic highlights in the Altenahr area, use parts of the well-known Rotweinwanderweg, the Ahr-Wanderweg, lead over the Schwedenkopf to above Dernau (K35), make a loop to the Saffenburg (K57), and climb the roof of the Ahrgebirge, the Steinerberg (K57).
The longer running routes (especially the K57) lead not only over wonderful hiking trails but also use longer, demanding "single-trails".
All running routes cross a road at three points; please be careful there, as there is no official route security (observe StVO - German Road Traffic Regulations).
Take your time to cross the road safely!!!
All routes will be marked.
Course Refreshments
3 aid stations for K19, 5 for K35, and 7 for K57 with water, tea, later cola, fruit, cookies, chocolate, bars, bread, potatoes…
Drinking Cups / Environment / Waste Avoidance
Drinking cups will continue to be provided at the refreshment stations. However, participants with running backpacks or those who can carry their own suitable drinking cup are asked to do so to avoid unnecessary plastic waste. Thank you!
