Northumberland Festival of Sport
The Northumberland Festival of Sport is a multi-discipline event held at Druridge Bay Country Park, Red Row NE61 5BX on the Northumberland coast. It includes triathlon, aquabike, aquathlon, open water swim challenges and trail runs. The swim takes place in the warm shallow freshwater Ladyburn Lake within the park. The bike route leaves the country park along a coastal road and the run is a multi-lap footpath that passes through woods and meadows around the lake.
The 2026 Standard Distance Triathlon has been selected as the 2026 English Standard Distance Triathlon championship event and serves as a British Triathlon age group standard distance qualifier for the 2027 European Standard Distance Triathlon Championships in Kitzbühel. Registration opens October 2026.
Minimum ages on 31 December 2027 are: children's events 8 years, sprint events 15 years and standard events 17 years.
Race distances include:
- Tristar Start age 8: Swim 100m and Run 600m
- Tristar 1 ages 9-10: Swim 200m and Run 1100m
- Tristar 2 ages 11-12: Swim 300m and Run 1600m
- Tristar 3 ages 13-14: Swim 400m and Run 2100m
- Open water swim challenges: 750m, 1.5km and 3km
- Trail runs: 5K and 10K
- Sprint triathlon: 750m swim / 19km bike / 5.2km run
- Standard triathlon: 1.5km swim / 38km bike / 10.4km run
- Sprint aquabike: 750m swim / 19km bike
- Standard aquabike: 1.5km swim / 38km bike
- Sprint aquathlon: 750m swim / 5.2km run
- Standard aquathlon: 1.5km swim / 10.4km run
