North Downs Way Ultra Run
This is a guided trail run starting and finishing at St Martha's, Guildford, Surrey. The route covers 30 miles and follows sections of the North Downs Way and surrounding trails, including Denbies Wine Estate and the top of Box Hill. The course passes through small villages and offers extended views across the downs before returning to Newland's Corner and St Martha's church.
The event is run as a non-competitive group outing led by an experienced ultra runner and coach. The guide manages the route, provides advice during the day, and answers running questions. Participants should be prepared for trail terrain with steeper climbs that are often walked, and for regular regrouping.
Organisers advise that participants have completed at least 22 miles in training beforehand and be comfortable sustaining an average trail pace of about 10 min per mile (6:15 min per km) for prolonged periods. Faster runners should expect some sections to be run at a more social pace. A full kit list will be provided before the event.
Practical details include a cost of £45 per person, on-site car parking, and proximity to a train station within a short run or taxi ride. An alcohol-free beer from Athletic Brewing Company may be available at the finish, subject to availability. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
