MTC Kelpie Ultra Running Event
The MTC KELPIE is a single-day ultra running event of 38 miles, forming Day 9 of the MTC SCOTIA nine-day end-to-end challenge. The route runs from Inver Caravan Park, Dunbeath, and finishes at John O'Groats. Competitors on the KELPIE will run alongside SCOTIA participants on the final day.
Entry is limited to 20 places for the standalone KELPIE with an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA competitors, giving a maximum field of 40. All entrants must be 20 years or over on the start day.
Entry Fees
Entry fees are set at £90 for the standard entry and £155 for a plus race package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz race jacket; all payments are non-refundable.
Race Details
- Distance: 38 miles
- Cut-off: Preset cut-off points based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 miles per hour. Competitors below this may be withdrawn.
- Cup Free: Entrants should bring a reusable cup.
- Mandatory Kit: Backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid kit, and waterproof map case.
- Tracking: The organiser issues a tracking device with an SOS function to each competitor.
- Finishers: Receive a bespoke KELPIE medal. Male and female champions receive trophies.
Mapping and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed approximately four weeks before the event.
