MTC JOGLE 28
Take on the challenge of this incredible journey, covering over 850 miles (1369km) over 17 days. That’s averaging 50 miles (80km) each day!
Race Overview:
The MTC JOGLE is a multi day road ultra covering approximately 852 miles over 17 days, following the route from John O'Groats to Lands End. The event is almost all on road and averages close to 50 miles per day. Entrant numbers are limited to 12.
Accommodation is provided by the organiser from the end of Day 1 through to the end of Day 16 on a shared room basis; competitors must arrange their own accommodation at John O'Groats and after finishing at Lands End. Evening meals are included; breakfast provision varies by location and may be continental or simple hot options. The race operates a cup free policy so competitors must provide a reusable cup.
Support and navigation include checkpoint food at regular intervals, hi-viz technical tops and a jacket, tracking devices with SOS, and maps/GPX files. Mount to Coast supplies a pair of road shoes to each competitor before the race and offers a second complimentary pair at the start if the event is completed using only the supplied shoes.
The event enforces mandatory kit and safety rules: a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. There is a strict minimum average pace of 4 mph with preset cutoffs; anyone falling below the required pace may be withdrawn. No competitor may continue on course after 22:00.
Entry options include a charity entry with a non-refundable deposit of £300 and a fundraising commitment of at least £4,500, or a full entry fee of £3,200 payable by deposit and instalments. Total ascent is listed as 16,604 m and total descent as 16,589 m. Finishers receive a medal, a technical finisher t-shirt, a trophy and a bottle of champagne.
Time Restrictions:
The MTC JOGLE is incredibly demanding and few athletes will have the fitness or resolve to complete the entire 17 days. As such Ultra Running has preset cut-off times along the route, based on a minimum average of 4 mph / day. If you fall below this minimum requirement you will be advised and given a warning. If the consecutive day is also below 4 mph you will be withdrawn without debate.
Under no circumstances will a runner be allowed to continue on the course after 22:00.
The MTC JOGLE is a Cup-Free event, so please bring your own re-usable cup.
