The MTC GLAISTIG is a single day ultra running event covering 31.3 miles. It forms Day 2 of the nine day MTC SCOTIA series and shares part of its route and field with SCOTIA competitors. The route starts at the Traquair Arms Hotel in Innerleithen and finishes at the Travelodge Edinburgh Airport, Ratho Park.
Entry is limited to 20 race places with an additional allowance of 20 places for SCOTIA competitors, giving a maximum of 40 runners. Standard entry and an upgraded race package are offered; the package includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi‑viz jacket and must be purchased at least four weeks before the event to guarantee clothing supply. All deposits and payments are non‑refundable, and an optional personal cancellation insurance policy can be added at checkout. A defer option is available for a fee if arranged within the organiser’s deadline.
The organiser enforces a minimum average speed of 4.0 miles per hour; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. Competitors receive a tracking device with real time tracking and an SOS function. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants in advance. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. The event is cup free and finishers receive a bespoke GLAISTIG medal while male and female champions receive trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
