Midsummer Mortimer Trail
The Midsummer Mortimer Trail takes place on Saturday 20th June 2026 along the Mortimer Trail between Kington, Herefordshire and Ludlow, Shropshire. The event comprises two mixed terrain runs on public trails, forest tracks and some roads, following ridges, hills and valleys in the England and Wales borderland.
Routes include a longer ultra route that begins opposite the Burton Hotel in Kington and a shorter event that follows the final section of the ultra route and starts at the Riverside Inn, Aymestrey.

- Half Croft Half - follows the last half of the ultra route
The course passes through extensive forests, limestone tops and gentle pastures across the Marches of England. The route runs through country that was dominated in medieval times by the Mortimer family, reflecting local historic landscape patterns. Trace the BEAUTIFUL ridges, hills and valleys IN the borderland country of England and Wales
The Midsummer Mortimer Trail, the sister events to The Midwinter Mortimer Trail, consists of two distances of mixed trail/forest/road runs along the beautiful Mortimer Trail, which runs between the historic market towns of Kington, Herefordshire and Ludlow, Shropshire.
Starting opposite the Burton Hotel, Kington, the MMT(S) Kington Ultra is a mere 30ish mile multi terrain run. The route takes you through the Marches of England, with extensive forests, limestone tops and gentle pastures in an area dominated in mediaeval times by the Mortimer family, one of the most powerful Norman earldoms.
The MMT(S) Croft Half follows the last half of the Ultra route, starting at the lovely Riverside Inn, Aymestrey.
