Mary's Miles 5K Fun Run
Join us for Mary's Miles, a 5K and fundraising event dedicated to supporting holistic recovery for those in need. Our mission is to end taboos and foster a supportive community.
Partnered with Recovery Café Muncie, this event aims to raise awareness and gather funds for their quality, no-cost recovery programming. We want to help struggling community members discover this vital resource and create a beautiful life in recovery.
This will be a self-timed race along the White River Greenway, with the start and finish line located in Westside Park. Trophies designed by local artist Denise King will be awarded to the top male, female, and non-binary finishers. Additional awards will be given for Best Costume, Best Good Doggo, and Best Team.
Following the race, enjoy food options, artisan vendors, non-profit vendors, activities, kids' games, and a silent auction in Westside Park.
About Mary Phillips Maxwell:
Mary Phillips Maxwell was a cherished mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. An extraordinarily talented multimedia artist, singer, and musician, she had a deep love for nature, classic movies, the Oregon coast, Scottish Terriers, and The Beach Boys. Known for her radiant smile and infectious laugh, Mary was kind, generous, funny, creative, and courageous. She was an unwavering supporter of her daughter, Erin, cheering loudest at every event. Mary always considered her daughter her greatest creation. Despite facing chronic pain for years, which led to opioid use and a decades-long battle, her legacy is about transcending suffering and helping others do the same.
Whether you are new to recovery, navigating a difficult transition, returning to recovery, experiencing mental health challenges, trauma, homelessness, or wish to give back, Recovery Café Muncie welcomes all to join in recovering their true, authentic self!
