Kusam Klimb Trail Running Event
The Kusam Klimb is an annual trail running event held near the summer solstice in Sayward, British Columbia, with the race base at Salmon River Guesthouse. The event takes place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Kwakwaka’wakw peoples.
Distances Offered:
- 24 km Full Klimb: Over 1,500 m of elevation gain. This wild and rugged loop climbs up and over the back of Mt. H’Kusam and descends the Stowe Creek watershed.
- 13 km Mini Klimb: 491 m of elevation gain. Ideal for younger participants or those looking for a shorter challenge.
The race features exclusive access to Bill's Trail for the event. The full Klimb includes four fully stocked aid stations, and the Mini Klimb has two. Participants are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle as aid stations do not provide disposable cups.
Participation Regulations:
- Entrants must be 14 years or older.
- Ages 14 to 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult for the full duration.
- Entrants under 18 require a parent or guardian signature.
- No children under 14 are permitted.
- No support crew or spectators are allowed on the mountain or at aid stations.
- No motorized vehicle access is permitted on the mountain on race day.
- Hiking poles are allowed.
The event includes a pre-race pancake and coffee service and a post-race barbecue.

Bib Pickup: Friday, June 19, 2026: 5pm – 8pm; Saturday, June 20, 2026: 5am – 7am.
Aid Stations: 4 for the full Klimb, 2 for the Mini Klimb.
