Kingfisher Challenge
The Kingfisher Challenge is a six hour lap event held at Coombe Abbey Park, CV3 2AB, on 30 September 2026. Participants run repeated laps of a roughly 3.3 mile loop and may stop after any lap within the six hour limit. Examples given by the organiser equate four laps to a half marathon and eight laps to a marathon.
The course runs mainly on stone pathways with a meadow section on open grassland that can become muddy depending on recent weather. The route is relatively flat and passes through mature woodland with substantial tree cover. A GPX of the route is available and the course will be marked on the day.
Facilities at the venue include a cafe and a toilet block near the event headquarters. On-site parking costs up to £5 depending on duration. Coombe Abbey Park sits on the outskirts of Coventry, about six minutes from Junction 2 of the M6, with the nearest train station at Coventry.
Pricing
Entry fees follow a tiered structure. Before 11/06/2025 the fee is £37, after that date £42, with unaffiliated entrants paying £2 extra. Dogs are not permitted during this event; canicross season runs from mid-October to March. Rucking is permitted. Participants may choose a medal or a tree token which corresponds to a planted tree and a wildflower seed token.
There is a partnership with Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children’s Charity and entrants may opt to donate.

Course Details
The 3.3-mile lap at Coombe Abbey Park means your race can be just over 5k or, given the relatively flat nature of the course, potentially 50+ miles! You decide how many laps you are going to do on the day within the 6-hour time limit. If you're looking to cover a marathon distance you'll need to complete 8 laps and a half marathon will be 4 laps.
The majority of the route is on stone pathways. There is a meadow section on open grassland, depending on the weather leading up to the the event this could be muddy, but is unlikely to be. Given the time of year expect hard surfaces, lots of tree cover and some spectacular running!
