Kilnsey Crag Fell Race
Kilnsey Crag Fell Race takes place on Tuesday 1st September 2026 as part of Kilnsey Show. The event is a short fell race with a route length of 1.00 miles (1.60 km) and approximately 350 feet (100 m) of climb. The senior course includes a descent down a narrow rock chimney that is negotiated with the aid of a rope. Junior races include steep scree descents.
The event includes additional track events for seniors run on a handicap basis, listed as sprint and mile. There is a one-lap track event for younger children in place of a fell race for the under 9s. Age categories are Under 12, Under 14, Under 17 and Seniors; the minimum age for the junior crag race is 9 years on the day.
Entry to the senior fell race is limited to a maximum of 100 for safety and is by pre-entry only; there is no entry on the day. All competitors must declare and collect their race number from BOFRA registration by 2.30pm. Competitors are required to wear suitable footwear, for example studded fell shoes, as road shoes are not suitable. A race map and a race profile are not available.
