Hibernal Hills 50 Mile
The Hibernal Hills 50 Mile is a winter single-loop trail race around Petersfield in the South Downs area. The advertised course length is 53 miles with approximately 6400 ft of ascent and descent. The route uses established long-distance paths, including around 50 km on the Staunton and Monarchs Ways before working up onto the South Downs Way on the return to the finish.
The event starts and finishes at Ditcham Park School in Petersfield. The course is fully waymarked and is almost entirely on trail, listed as 99% trail and 1% road. There are six aid stations positioned along the route. The race is a UTMB Index event and is worth 3 ITRA points. Live GPS tracking and chip timing are provided and a mandatory GPS tracker is included in the entry fee.
Entrants must be at least 20 years old and must have completed a marathon within that race’s cutoff time in the last four years as a qualifier. Organisers note that winter and night trail running experience is essential. The event holds a permit through the ARC, permit number ARC/26/0153.
Entry fees are shown as £110 with an early bird price of £100. Refunds up to 50% are available until 6 November 2025; after that date refunds are not given except for pregnancy.
