About the Race:
The Gulch Countdown is a "Last Person Standing" race designed for all ability levels, offering a challenging yet social trail running experience. Participants run a 2.18-mile loop in the forests of Japanese Gulch. The race features a timed loop format where the cutoff time for each subsequent loop decreases by 1 minute, eventually reducing by 30 seconds after 12 loops (a marathon distance), until only one runner remains.
Full aid stations will be provided. $5 from every registration goes towards improving the trails of Japanese Gulch. There will also be a competition for the fastest lap of the day for men and women.
Race Overview:
The course is a 2.18-mile loop through Japanese Gulch, featuring rolling hills and a forest environment.
How it works:
- The first loop has a 32-minute cut-off.
- Finishers within the cut-off start the next loop together, running in the opposite direction within 31 minutes.
- With each additional loop, the cut-off is reduced by 1 minute.
- After 12 loops (marathon distance), loop times decrease by 30 seconds until only one runner remains.
