The 42nd Gatliff Marathon
SATURDAY 17th OCTOBER 2026
The Gatliff Marathon is an annual challenge walk, jog or run of 25 or 50km mostly on footpaths and tracks in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex countryside.
The challenge is to complete the event in under 10 hours, following the route directions and checking in at each of the checkpoints.

Opening Time: 6:30am
Start Times: Between 7:00am and 10:30am depending on distance and whether walking or running
Parking options: Car parking is not available at the Cricket Club. Car parking will be available close to the Cricket Club at a cost of £2 per car (cash only) ///album.honey.offer, TQ 445448. Free alternatives are Market Yard Car Park and Edenbridge Town Railway Station. Both require walking to the Cricket Club.
Entering
Entry fees in advance: Standard Rate: £23 for the 50km route and £21 for the 25km route. There is an additional charge of £2.00 for entering on the day (£25 for the 50km route and £23 for the 25k route).
All food and drink provided by the Gatliff Marathon organisers is included in the entry fees.
How to enter: Entry in advance is via the SiEntries website. Alternatively download an entry form and post this with a cheque. You can also enter on the day (£2 extra), paying by cash or card. Online entry closes 8.30pm Thursday 15 October 2026.
General Information
Background: The first Gatliff Marathon was organised in 1984, as part of Croydon Group’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

Food and Drink: All food and drink provided by the Gatliff Marathon organisers is included in the entry fees. Food will be provided at the finish. Soup and sandwiches will be provided for lunch at one of the checkpoints on the 50km route only. Snacks and drinks will be available at all checkpoints. There are 5 checkpoints on the 50km route, and 2 on the 25km route.
What to bring:
- Essential items: Water, Footwear suitable for off-road running or walking.
- Recommended: OS 187 and 188 maps, A compass, Waterproof map case, Waterproofs, Hand sanitiser.
The Route
The Gatliff has different routes each year through rural countryside using footpaths and tracks. There will be 50km and 25km options (31 miles and 15.5 miles). A route description will be given to each entrant. The objective is to complete the distance within 10 hours.
The clock starts when you are checked out at the start/finish desk.
