The Four Reservoirs Ultra Trail Run – Sunday 18th October 2026
The Four Reservoirs Ultra Trail Run returns from Shotley Bridge, near Consett, County Durham. Carefully designed to showcase the very best of County Durham, the course offers spectacular views, sweeping moorland, woodland trails, and of course… four reservoirs!

Distances
- 25km Trail Run: Follows the Ultra route until Rowley Station, descends beside the A68 to Allensford Park, rejoins Ultra runners through Ebchester, Hamsterley & Derwent Walk.
- 53km Ultra Trail Run: Circular route from Shotley Bridge via Derwent Walk & Waskerley Way, Waskerley, Smiddy Shaw & Hisehope Reservoirs, a road section through Muggleswick with views over Derwent Reservoir, and footpaths of Derwent Gorge & Muggleswick Woods. Return via Ebchester, Hamsterley & the Derwent Walk line.
Feed Stations
- 3 feed stations on the 53km Ultra
- 1 feed station on the 25km
- All stations stocked with: VOOM Nutrition Pocket Rockets, VOOM Hydration, plus a range of sweet & savoury snacks.
Mandatory Kit List (53km)
For safety, all 53km runners must carry: Backpack with fluids, charged mobile phone with ICE contacts saved, food/gels, lightweight jacket, and a headtorch (required if finishing after 5pm).

Open start window: 7:30am – 8:00am
Cut-Off Times
53km Ultra must be completed within 9.5 hours of daylight. This is a running event — not suitable for those intending to walk the full route.

The Finish Line
All finishers will receive: Event Medal, Long-sleeved event top, Drink & snack.
