About the Event
Join the First Day Hike tradition across the country. What could be healthier than starting the New Year with a beautiful walk in nature with family and friends? We hike approximately 5-6 miles depending on weather and trail conditions on that day.
Important Information
- Meeting Time/Place: 10:30 am at Trailside Science Museum parking lot. Please arrive on time to check-in and depart shortly after.
- Finish Time: Approximately 1:30 pm. Time may vary due to group size and trail conditions.
- Transportation: NJ Midtown Direct train to Summit leaves NY Penn at 10:11 am. Free R/T carpool offered (limited space) from the Summit station. Must be arranged and confirmed in advance. Email [email protected] to reserve.
- Driving: Free parking available at Trailside Science Museum.
- Preparation: Hiking shoes, hiking poles suggested (have a few to lend), layered clothing. Pack a lunch/snack and water.
- Bathrooms: Available at the start and midway along the trail.
- Difficulty: Moderate with some hilly and rocky trails. We stay together with a pace of about 2-2.5 MPH.
