Diezer Stadtlauf - Karl Maxeiner Lauf 2026
The 9th edition of the Karl Maxeiner Lauf, also known as the Diezer Stadtlauf, will take place on September 27, 2026, in Diez. This classic event offers a variety of distances including 400m, 1km, 5km, 10km, a walking/hiking option over 5km, and a relay race.
The event has become a popular fixture in the regional sports calendar, attracting both competitive athletes and recreational runners. It also serves as the road running district championships for the Rhein-Lahn athletics district and will host the regional championships for the Rheinhessen-Rheinland Athletics Association.
Course Details:
The well-marked courses, with kilometer markers, run on asphalt and cobblestones through the historic old town along the Lahn River, over the Oraniensteiner Bridge, and finish at the Diezer Market Square. The routes are flat, officially measured, and suitable for achieving personal bests.
Race Categories:
- 10 km
- 5 km (Elite runners start first, followed by other participants)
- 1 km
- 400 m (Bambini, with staggered starts for different age groups)
- Staffel (Relay): 5 people per team, 1 km each. Separate categories for women, men, and mixed teams.
- Gehen/Walking: 5 km
Event Features:
- Two music attractions along the course.
- Market Square amenities: registration, changing tents, toilets, catering, consultation stands (e.g., running shoes), massage, and physiotherapy.
- Online access to photos, a professional event video, and certificates.
- Medals for all participants.
- Certificates for the top three finishers in each race (except Bambini).
- Trophies for winners of the 1km, 5km, and 10km races.
- Cash prizes for the three most successful schools.
- Optional running shirt available for pre-order (€12, €7 for Bambini).

Registration: Online pre-registration opens April 1st. Late registration is possible on the event day up to 30 minutes before the start with an additional fee of €2.
