Destination Basingstoke Phillips Law Half Marathon, 10k & 5k
Date: Sunday, October 4th, 2026
The Destination Basingstoke Phillips Law Half Marathon and 10k is a highlight in the running calendar, bringing the community together in a fabulous festival atmosphere. With superb scenery, closed roads, and a friendly welcome, it offers the organization and facilities of a big race with the atmosphere of a community festival.
Organised by Destination Basingstoke, the Half Marathon has built a reputation on par with great races in the south while retaining a strong community feel. The 2026 event sees the 5k course, introduced previously, become a permanent fixture. In 2025, the event hosted over 1,700 runners, with separate start times for the Half Marathon and 10k. Family-friendly races for children were added in 2023, and the 10k route was adjusted for faster times.
Race Details:
- Half Marathon and 10k Race: Start on land next to the Crossborough Hill car park in Basingstoke. Most of the route runs on traffic-free minor roads through undulating countryside. Roads on the route will be closed for the duration of the event on race day. The Half Marathon course heads out towards Cliddesden, passing the Jolly Farmer pub, then towards Ellisfield. It features the 'Big Dipper' (Bedlam Bottom) between miles 8 and 9, a tree-lined avenue to mile 9, and a finish in War Memorial Park at Crossborough Hill.
- 5k Race: Follows much of the same scenic route, turning on Farleigh Road before looping back. Open to runners aged 11 and over.
- Children's Race: A free one-mile race for ages 5 to 10, supported by the headline sponsor.
Note: If running the route outside of the event, roads will be open and may be busy, especially the B4036. Training on other hills is recommended. Running the route outside of the event is at your own risk.
Ticket Information: Early bird entries are open.
