Coln Valley 2, 5 & 10km Charity Trail Run
After the amazing success of the previous events, Friends of Hatherop Primary School are pleased to announce that the Coln Valley Trail Runs will be returning in 2026. Set along the beautiful Coln River valley between Coln St Aldwyns and Bibury and with distances for all the family, this is not an event to miss!
In case you need further incentive, not only do all proceeds go to the school's fundraising Big Build Project (further information here), but there is also a BBQ and plenty of cake waiting at the finish.
So whether you’re gunning for a fast trail time, looking for a change from park run or seeking to justify a big pub lunch (check out the locals – New Inn and Keepers Arms), please enter now as spaces are limited.
Key Information:
- Where? By Yew Tree lodge, Coln St Alwyn’s – GL7 5AJ. Parking on the fields adjacent to the River Coln at the bottom of the village.
- Entry on the day? If spaces are available and for an additional £2 per entry.
The Route?
2km Steeplechase Fun Run: a cracking cross-country route around undulating grassy fields. Featuring some hay bale hurdles and two crossings of the ‘dip of doom’ before a final sting in the tail up ‘heart break hill’. This is a really fun route for kids of all ages!
5 & 10km: following a short climb out of the valley from the start, this beautiful route follows gently undulating terrain through predominantly grass pasture, with the 10km splitting off around 3km to take a figure of eight route to Bibury and past the infamous Arlington Row cottages (tourist dodging may be required). All of the route will be clearly marked and is 95% on trail. A water and jelly baby station will be provided on route.
Age restrictions:
- 2km – all ages, though it is recommended that U7’s are accompanied by an adult (adult entry not needed if entered in the 5 or 10k)
- 5km – recommended 11 or over unless accompanied by an adult
- 10km – recommended 16 or over
Start Times:
- Registration from 8:30am
- 10:00am - 2km fun run (awards at c.10:30)
- 11:00am - 5 & 10km (awards at c.12:15)
Prizes/Awards: (male and female categories)
As a minimum prizes will include:
- 2km – Top 3 overall and Top 3 U8 (age on race day)
- 5km – Top 3 overall
- 10km - Top 3 overall, Top 3 >50
