Challenge the Shield Adventure Run Weekend
Join the Challenge the Shield Adventure Run Weekend in Parry Sound, Ontario, on May 1-2, 2027. This premier wilderness endurance challenge takes place on the rugged Canadian Shield, offering a unique "choose-your-own-adventure" experience.
Teams of two will navigate through windswept pines, pristine lakes, and granite rock barrens to reach checkpoint challenges. Each checkpoint has a difficulty rating and points value, allowing teams to strategize and decide which ones to tackle based on their skill and time.
Race Distances and Options:
- 6-hour Adventure Run: Up to 36 checkpoints, approximately 35 km, with a maximum of 2,500 points.
- 3-hour Adventure Run: Up to 20 checkpoints, approximately 17.5 km, with a maximum of 1,250 points. GPS Map App assistance is available for this race.
Categories:
- 6-hour: Coed, Male, Female, Masters (average age >50)
- 3-hour: Open, Juniors (ages 13-19), Family (1 adult and 1 to 3 kids under 13 years of age)

Awards and Recognition:
The overall coed winning team receives the event mascot, Squirrelly George. Prizes are also awarded for first-place teams in all categories. Teams can earn Gold, Silver, and Bronze CTS stickers for achieving 2000, 1500, and 1000 points, respectively. All teams receive a participation sticker, and those reaching 2500 points are crowned "Ontario's Toughest Navigation Racers." All-time points milestones (5,000 and 10,000) are also recognized.
Event Details:
- Host Site: Georgian Nordic Outdoor Activity Centre, Parry Sound, Ontario.
- Registration: Entry fee is for a team of two (Family category teams can have 2-4 members). Cap of 100 teams.
- Event Guide: Available mid-April 2027, containing rules, required gear, race day schedule, and waiver.
