Castle To Coast Triathlon
Castle to Coast is a point to point triathlon that travels from Dorney Lake near Windsor, to Brighton Sea Front by swim, bike and run. The course begins with an open 1.2 mile lake swim, follows a 67 mile bike route through the Surrey Hills and continues with a 14 mile trail run across the South Downs to the seafront in Brighton.
The event is organised as a sportive triathlon and is non competitive; it is not governed by British Triathlon competition rules. The format includes non standard distances, relaxed starts and fewer equipment restrictions compared with traditional races. Cutoffs are set for each discipline and the event is supported by route arrows, mechanics, medical teams and experienced route managers. Participant bags are managed between stops and a finish line meal is provided.
A ticketed return transport option is available to carry participants and kit from Brighton seafront back to Windsor. A team entry option allows 2 or 3 people to share the disciplines; teams must provide a car to move team members and equipment between stages. During team entries the swimmer hands the timing chip to the cyclist in the transition village and team members coordinate transfers before the final run into Brighton. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
What is a Sportive Triathlon?
In short, it means this is a non-competitive event and as such it is not governed by the normal competitions rules of British Triathlon. By focusing on the challenging journey itself and shedding the idea of a race, Castle to Coast opens up a number of otherwise closed possibilities, such as our non standard distances, relaxed starts, less restrictions around equipment, and most importantly the ability to complete the journey the whole way alongside your friends and club mates.
From making sure your bags are available to you at every stop on the journey, to delivering your finish line meal, we take care of all the logistics. The event is fully supported from the thousands of arrows out on course, to the mechanics and medical teams. We have a professional team of experienced route managers who make sure you have everything you need on event day.
Need a Lift Home?
Don't worry, we've got your back - simply book the return transport ticket and we'll take you and your kit back from the finish line on Brighton seafront to Windsor at the end of the day.
Divide & Conquer - Take on Castle to Coast as a team
Our team option is in part self supported so you’ll need 2 or 3 team members and a car in order to make it happen. Your swimmer will start the event by completing their 1.2 mile swim, on exiting the water they will come into the transition village and pass the timing chip to the second team member who will go out on the bike. Your team will then be responsible for transporting your runner (& swimmer) from Windsor down to Hassocks ready to start the run. After your runner has departed, you’ll collect your bike and load it in the car. The swimmer and cyclist will then make their way down to Brighton Sea Front ready to run down the finish chute together, collecting your medals and finish line goodies on the way.
