The 45th Annual Capital City Stampede 10K Road Race & 5k Power Walk will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2024, in downtown Montpelier. Co-presented by Central Vermont Runners & the Vermont Senior Games Association, this event offers a 10K Road Race and a 5k Power Walk.
Race Details:
Bib number pickup and race day registration is at Onion River Outdoors (new location at 89 Main Street) from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m. Indoor bathrooms are available in the City Center Common Space adjacent to Onion River Outdoors. Please allow extra time to find on-street parking. Headphones and strollers are not allowed due to race insurance requirements and the use of downtown streets.
The races start and finish on Langdon Street, which will be blocked off to traffic during the event. The out-and-back course crosses in front of the Vermont State House and proceeds to the Montpelier Bike Path. The 5k Power Walkers will turn around at the 1.55-mile mark, while the 10k runners will proceed to the turnaround on Junction Street. The 10k course is roughly half paved and half dirt road, offering a flat and fast route.
Prizes:
10k race prizes include Onion River Outdoors gift certificates for the first female, male, and non-binary finishers in each five-year age group. The 10k race also serves as the Vermont Senior Games Association's 10k state championship road race for ages 50 and up, with gold, silver, and bronze medals awarded to top finishers.
5k Power Walk prizes include Onion River Outdoors gift certificates for top finishers in four age groups. An awards ceremony will follow the race at the City Center Common Space, with complimentary refreshments provided.
