Cadair X Mountain Half Marathon
Cadair X is a challenging 13.1-mile mountain half marathon with a total ascent of 1165m. The route is primarily off-road, consisting of approximately 65% trail, 25% mountain path, and 10% tarmac. The course reaches the summit of Cadair Idris at 893m, with a summit cut-off time of 90 minutes after the race start.
The route winds through Dol Idris woodland, alongside the stunning glacial lake Llyn Cau, and ascends Mynydd Moel before reaching the summit. The descent is over rocky, technical ground onto the established Pony Path. The final section follows quieter tracks through woodland before returning to Cadair Tearoom.
Key features include a sustained steep ascent between 1km and 3km, and challenging underfoot terrain just after the summit. The course will be marked with arrows, and a GPX file is available for download.
