Buxworth 5 Road Race
The Buxworth 5 Road Race is scheduled for Thursday 27 August 2026. It is a certified 5 mile single-lap road route run on country lanes and organised by Goyt Valley Striders.
The route includes several testing climbs with total ascent of 880 ft (268 m). The final mile is steeper and can slow finishing times. The course is stated as not suitable for wheelchairs. Headphones are not permitted during the race.
Race headquarters are at The Paper Mill Inn, Whitehough, SK23 6EJ. Numbers are issued on the night.
Prizes are offered to female and male finishers for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and for first place in age categories V40, V45, V50, V55, V60, V65 and V70. A £50 cash prize is available to any winner who breaks the course records; the recorded benchmark times from 2023 are 27:21 and 30:39.
As part of a sustainability initiative, the organisers offer a £2 drinks voucher to participants who travel by public transport, or who walk, cycle, run to the start, or car share with four or more people.
