Bound for the Sound: A Scenic Road Race for a Cause
Bound for the Sound is a 5k and 10k road race held in the picturesque town of Old Lyme, CT. Both courses start at the beautiful Sound View Beach, offering participants stunning views. The 10K features a mostly flat course with some gentle rolling hills, while the 5K is designed to be very flat and fast. Both races conclude on historic Hartford Avenue, with the finish line facing the beach.
Post-race, enjoy included food and drinks as part of your race entry. The 10K course is USATF certified and will serve as the USATF-CT 10K State Championship for both 2025 and 2026, concluding the USATF-CT Road Grand Prix series.
Race Details & Entry Fees
- 10K: $27.50 (before Aug 1), $30 (Aug 1-31), $32.50 (Sept 1 onwards). Includes t-shirt and chip timing.
- 5K: $27.50 (before Aug 1), $30 (Aug 1-31), $32.50 (Sept 1 onwards). Includes t-shirt and chip timing.
- 1 Mile Family Fun Run: $5. Includes finisher prize. T-shirt available for an additional $10.
Event Schedule
- Registration available online only, up to and including race day.
- Race day check-in and bib collection: Starts at 7:00 am.
- 10K race starts: 8:00 am.
- 5K race starts: 8:15 am.
- Family Fun Run starts: 9:15 am.
Parking Information
Free parking is available. Volunteers will assist with management. Designated lots include the Town-owned lot at the end of Hartford Avenue, the lot next to the Old Lyme police station on Shore Road (0.4 mile walk), and the Town-owned lot at Cross Lane (0.5 mile walk). RVs and large vehicles should park at the Cross Lane lot.
Awards
Awards will be given to the top three overall male, female, and non-binary finishers in both the 5K and 10K. Additionally, top finishers in each age group (12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+) will be recognized. Fun Runners will receive finisher prizes.

- Walkers are welcome and must register to participate.
- Race T-shirts guaranteed for 5K and 10K participants registered by September 1.
