Blacka Moor Chase - Trail Race
The Blacka Moor Chase is a trail race organized by Totley AC, taking place on 16th July 2026. The race starts and finishes at the Totley AC pavilion, located behind the Cricket Inn in Totley, Sheffield (S17 3AZ). The course is approximately 6.7 km long with about 270 m of ascent, following public rights of way.
The route includes a 1 km tarmac stretch along Strawberry Lee Lane, climbs onto Totley Moor and across to Blacka Moor Woods. Runners will descend technical paths and tracks, including the steep Piper Gate, and pass stepping stones before returning along Strawberry Lee Lane to the finish. Competitors must follow the marked course and pass checkpoints in sequence. Marshals will be present where possible.
Entry is available via pre-entry or on the day if spaces remain, with an entry fee of £8 for pre-entry. The event has an overall entry limit of 250 participants. The minimum age for participation is 16 years old when signed in by an adult, or 18 otherwise.
Facilities at the pavilion include toilets, showers, and changing rooms. Water will be available, but runners are advised to bring their own cup or bottle. Limited parking is available, and participants are encouraged to consider car sharing, walking, cycling, or using public transport.
Prizes will be awarded in the bar area, including awards for the top three male and female runners, the first Totley runner, and various age groups (18-23, Senior, V40, V50, V60, V70), as well as spot prizes.
The race is held under FRA Rules. Runners must familiarize themselves with and comply with the FRA Requirements for Runners 2020. The course covers 6.7 kilometers with a total climb of 272 meters.
