The Barb is Back!
We’re thrilled to welcome athletes, supporters, and volunteers to Scott’s Flat Lake for a day of fitness, community, and purpose on Sunday, August 30. The Barbara Schmidt Millar Women’s Triathlon & 5K brings women together to challenge themselves, support one another, and make a meaningful impact in the community.
Event Details:
- Sprint Triathlon: Open exclusively to female athletes ages 18 and older. Includes a ½-mile swim, 11-mile bike ride, and 3.1-mile run. Participants may compete individually or as part of a two- or three-woman relay team.
- 5K Run/Walk: Follows the same beautiful course and is open to women ages 13 and older.
Location & Purpose:
Held at the scenic Scott’s Flat Lake in Nevada City, this beloved event has inspired women while raising vital funds for local healthcare. Proceeds support outreach, diagnostic services, and breast health care through Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. The event also benefits the Barbara Schmidt Millar Memorial Fund at the Women’s Imaging Center. In addition, a scholarship established in Barbara’s honor is awarded to female Nevada County high school graduates pursuing careers in healthcare.

Whether you're returning to the course or joining us for the first time, we invite you to be part of this exciting comeback. The Barb is back—and we can’t wait to celebrate with you on August 30! Please note: We are starting off small & capping this year's event at 75 triathletes, 15 relay teams and unlimited runners/walkers. Registration closes Sunday, August 23. No same-day registrations will be accepted.
