Atlantic Coast uLTRA 40 Miler
The Atlantic Coast uLTRA is a 40 miles coastal challenge that starts at Fistral Beach in Newquay, follows the coast down to Hayle River Mouth and finishes at St Ives Bay Holiday Park. The route follows the South West Coast Path and uses the Acorn waymarkers.
Participants may complete the distance by walking, running or crawling. All finishers receive a bespoke event T-shirt and medal. Transport is provided from the event headquarters to the start and there is transport for retired participants.
The event is organised by Epic Endurance Events CIC. The event package includes a GPS tracker supplied by Geo Tracks with live tracking maps, food and drink on the course, medical cover, on-course support and an event instructions pack. Free parking is available at the event headquarters.
Terrain is described as wild and rugged with steep climbs and descents. Navigation is emphasised; the route is largely waymarked but participants should be prepared to self-navigate, typically keeping the sea on the left.
Event headquarters are at St Ives Bay Holiday Park, located in the conservatory next to the bar and the Bay View cafe. Catering, camping facilities, showers and toilets are available at the park. Accommodation is not included in the entry price and must be booked directly with the holiday park.
Checkpoints are placed at roughly 10 mile intervals, staffed and stocked with a range of food and hot drinks. A compulsory kit list is enforced and missing mandatory items will prevent participation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
