Amberaid 30 Trail Race and Petit Raid
Amberaid is a trail running event based at Ashover Village Hall in the Amber Valley, Derbyshire, near the eastern edge of the Peak District. It offers two mapped routes that run through undulating countryside, woodland trails and rural landscapes in a figure of 8 pattern.
Distances:
- Petit Raid: 20 miles, the northern loop
- Amberaid 30: 31 miles, full figure of 8 route
The course is largely unmarked with a couple of trickier navigation sections marked by organisers. Route notes and GPX files are provided and a paper map is recommended as backup. Checkpoints provide water at every station; CP1, CP2 and CP4 also offer food. Checkpoint locations and mileages are published for both routes.
There is a nine hour time limit. Runners on the Amberaid route must have left CP2 by 12.30pm or will be redirected to the Petit Raid route.
Facilities at the event include free parking at the village hall, light refreshments at the finish, finisher medals and prizes for first male and female in each race. Medical cover is provided on the course and at the race headquarters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
