Alf Shrubb Memorial 10k & 5k
Celebrate Slinfold’s legendary runner Alf Shrubb by taking part in the Alf Shrubb Memorial Races on 13 September 2026. Run a 10k or 5k trail race, bring the family for the children’s races, and help support local community causes.
The 10k and 5k follow mixed trail routes through the West Sussex countryside using footpaths, bridleways and trails. All races are chip timed and finish on the cricket pitch at Slinfold Cricket Club.
The Races
- 10k - two scenic laps finishing at Slinfold Cricket Club
- 5k - one scenic lap finishing at Slinfold Cricket Club
- One mile children’s race for ages 8 to 11 with the Inter Schools Challenge Trophy
The 5 to 7 year old children’s race takes place at Slinfold Cricket Club, which also serves as the event headquarters for number collection and warm ups. A professionally led warm up is held on the cricket field before runners move to the start on Clapgate Lane.
Race day facilities include refreshments, homemade cakes, a fully licensed bar and additional ladies only toilets. All finishers receive a bespoke replica of Alf Shrubb’s original medal and prize certificates are given to category winners.
