24th Annual Potomac River Run Marathon & Half
The 24th Potomac River Run Marathon & Half will be held on Saturday, May 1st, 2027, at Fletcher's Cove, 4940 Canal Road, Washington DC, on the C&O Canal Towpath. REGISTER early and save up to $50 or more over later registration prices!
Packet Pickup:
On Friday, April 30th, 12:00 noon to 6:00 PM, at PACERS RUNNING STORE, 3100 Clarendon Blvd, Arlington, VA. On race day, Saturday, May 1st, on-site packet pickup opens from 6:00 AM to 8:15 AM at Fletcher's Cove.
Race Schedule:
Marathoners arrive for pickup from 6:00-7:15 AM. The Marathon starts at 7:30 AM.
Half Marathoners arrive for pickup from 7:00-8:15 AM. The Half Marathon starts at 08:30 AM.
We report marathon results to the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) before the end of May so you can qualify for Boston 2028. Come and join us for one of the fastest marathon & half races in the DC Area. Monetary prizes for the top 3 finishers and awards for each of the age group winners.
Event Details:
- Flat - scenic - beautiful views of the Potomac River
- Tree-lined - shaded - out'n'back
- Start and finish at Fletcher's Cove
- Highest point is 44m above sea level, lowest point is 12m above sea level
- The racecourse is 99% crushed gravel -- no hills -- no pavement except for two short stretches to prevent erosion, no cross streets
- Aid stations close as the last runner approaches. Last Aid Station at Lock 6 closes at 1:30 PM.
- Slow runners are advised to bring their own water bottle.
