Fisherman’s Picnic Trail Runs
Join us for the Fisherman’s Picnic Trail Runs: 10k Trail Race, 5k Run/Walk, and Kids Races (¼ Mile and 1 Mile). This event is a fundraiser for the Pincushion Ski and Run Club.
Event Details
Date: SATURDAY, August 1st, 2026
Location: Pincushion Mountain Trails, 2 miles north of Grand Marais off the Gunflint Trail, Co. Rd 12. Grand Marais, MN, US, 55604
Schedule
- 8:00 am - 8:45 am: Race Packet & Bib Pick Up
- 9:00 am: Kids Races (¼ Mile Run/Walk or 1 Mile Walk/Run) - Parents can run with kids
- 9:30 am: 5k Run/Walk & 10k Trail Race
Courses
10k Trail Race: All Ages. Utilizes the nordic ski trails and a segment of the Superior Hiking Trail. Features rolling hills with steep climbs, some technical terrain (loose rocks, exposed tree roots), and a minor water crossing. One aid station at the halfway point.
5k Run/Walk: All Ages. Entirely on the nordic ski trails with rolling hills. No aid station.
¼ Mile Kids Run/Walk: Ages 7 and Under.
1 Mile Run/Walk: Ages 12 and Under.
Note: New courses for the 5k and 10k in 2026. Trails are wide and grassy with some exposed roots and rocks.
Registration & Pricing
Register on RaceSignup.com. Preregistration is strongly encouraged. Same-day registration is available.
- 10k Trail Race: $42.00 - $50.00
- 5k Run/Walk: $42.00 - $50.00
- Kids Races (¼ Mile & 1 Mile): $15.00 - $20.00
Runner FAQ's
- Shirts: Unisex, short sleeve, available for the first 200 registrants.
- Timing: Chip timing for the 1 Mile, 5k, and 10k races.
- Refunds: No refunds will be issued.
- Cancellation: Event will only be cancelled due to extremely dangerous conditions (e.g., severe lightning). Announcements on the Pincushion Ski and Run Club Facebook page.
- Strollers: Not advised due to trail nature.
- Kids Participation: Children must be registered for liability reasons.
- Race Transfers: Require race director approval. Use the 'Contact Us' feature.
Dog Policy
While dogs are technically allowed on Pincushion Trails, please leave pets at home for this event to avoid issues for participants.
