15th Steppingley Step
The Steppingley Step is an off-road walking and running event based at Barton-le-Clay Village Hall, MK45 4JY. The route follows mainly field paths, tracks, woods and some roads through undulating countryside, with good views from the hills traversed. Parking is available at the village hall or Arnold Academy; parking in village streets and the private road opposite the headquarters is not permitted.

Entries open on 1 September 2026 and close on 13 November 2026. Online entry is required; there are no entries on the day. Priority entry is available to LDWA members until 18 October 2026, after which entry opens to all. Entry fees are listed by category and under 18s enter free. Cancellations before 1 November 2026 incur a £2 administration fee; after that date refunds are only possible if the place is filled from the waiting list.
Each route uses checkpoints, with one on the 12 mile, two on the 18 mile and three on the 26 mile courses, and checkpoint opening and closing times will be strictly adhered to. Entrants must download and print their own route description; route descriptions will not be available on the day.
Required equipment guidance includes a printed route description, compass, mug, torch if finishing after dark, mobile phone, small first aid kit and waterproof clothing. Dogs are allowed but must be on leads, kept out of halls except assistance dogs and carry appropriate liability insurance. The entry fee includes drinks, biscuits at the start, snacks at checkpoints and a light meal at the finish; vegetarian options will be provided and some vegan food may be available but other dietary requirements cannot be guaranteed. A certificate and a free badge on request are awarded to finishers. The event is part of a Triple Challenge with two other local events.
